Inaugurated by renowned Nepali culture expert Satya Mohan Joshi, the exhibit displayed paintings that shared unique motifs of art. A minimal blend of grey and black colors dominated the square and circular borders of the canvas. Chinese lettering and calligraphy with subtle sketches of meditators added specialty to the unique set of collection which helped decipher the meaning to the viewers. Moreover, Chinese to Nepali interpreters were engaged to interpret painting-related Chinese narratives to the visitors.
The subject of art revolves around the life and meditation practices of an ancient Buddhist monk who lived during the sixth century. “All the paintings used in the exhibition are spontaneous strokes of paints I drew while I was in the process of meditation,” said Shi. He added, “This exhibition is an attempt to strengthen the social, economic and cultural ties between the two countries.”
Furthermore, Chairperson of BookBird Nepal, Rambabu Subedi stated that such art exhibitions not only helped to gain an insight on Chinese culture but also invited possible improvements in the Nepali art sector.
