Shrestha maintains lead

KATHMANDU, Nov 7: Nepal number one Shiva Ram Shrestha continued his impressive form on Tuesday to maintain lead over his nearest competitor Surya Prasad Sharma in the ongoing Surya Nepal Central Open.

KATHMANDU, Nov 7: Nepal number one Shiva Ram Shrestha continued his impressive form on Tuesday to maintain lead over his nearest competitor Surya Prasad Sharma in the ongoing Surya Nepal Central Open.




In the second round of the campaign at Gokarna Golf Club in Kathmandu, Shrestha carded nine-under 63 today for a total of 15-under 129 for seven-stroke lead. Similarly, second placed Sharma carded five-under 67 for a total of eight-under 136. Jayaram Shrestha and Deepak Magar are in the third place at even-par 144. Shrestha carded two-under 70 and Magar shot one-over 73.

Bhuwan Nagarkoti is fifth at one-over 145. He scored one-under 71 Tuesday. Rabi Khadka is sixth at two-over 146, he turned in second successive one-over 73. Sanjay Lama carded three-under 69 today for a total of four-over 148 to be at the seventh place. Dhana Bahadur Thapa (72), Bhuwan Kumar Rokka (73), Bhu Bahadur Gurung (73) and Rame Magar (77) are tied eighth at five-over 149.




Yelamber Singh Adhikari, Pradeep Kumar Lama, Pashupati Sharma, Bal Bhadra Rai, Kishan Kaliraj Sunar, Deepak Acharya, Bikash Adhikari, Dipendra Rayamajhi, Rajendra Shrestha Pradhan, and Kamal Tamang also survived the cut at 10-over 154.




On amateur side, Phuntsok Norbu Lama carded four-over 76 while Sunil KC carded seven-over 79. Both Lama and KC are tied at nine-over 153, leading the amateur section after the second day of the competition.  Subash Ghising is in the third position at 15-over 159, he carded four-over 76 today.




A total of 32 professional golfers and 10 amateurs are taking part in the competition.
