KATHMANDU, Dec 11: A total of six candidates have registered their candidacy for the post of party President in the ongoing 14th General Convention of Nepali Congress (NC). Similarly, a total of six candidates have registered their candidacy for the posts of party's Vice President and General Secretary each.
According to NC's Election Committee, Sher Bahadur Deuba, Dr Shekhar Koirala, Prakash Man Singh, Bimalendra Nidhi, Kalyan Gurung and Yubaraj Neupane have filed their nomination for the post of party president. Those filing nominations for the post of vice president from different panels include Mahesh Acharya and Sujata Koirala (Shrestha's panel), Dr Chandra Bhandari and Dhan Raj Gurung (Koirala's panel) and Dibyeshwari Shah and Purna Bahadur Khadka (Deuba's panel).

Similarly, Bishwa Prakash Sharma (Singh's panel), Dr Minendra Rijal and Gagan Thapa (Dr Koirala's panel), Dr Prakash Sharan Mahat and Pradip Paudel (Deuba's panel) and Raja Ram Karki have fielded their candidacy for the post of the party's General Secretary.
Those fielding candidacies for the post of party's Joint General Secretary from different panels include Badri Prasad Pandey, Pharmullaha Mansur, Man Bahadur Bishwakarma, Debraj Chalise, Surendra Prasad Chaudhary, Kishor Singh Rathour, Ranjit Karna, Jiwan Pariyar, Bikash Lama, Ram Krishna Yadav, Kamala Panta, Teju Lal Chaudhary, Jiwan Bahadur Shahi, Ganga Sunar, Mahendra Yadav, Bhishma Raj Angdembe, Chetraj Baral, Shekh Wakil, Umakanta Chaudhary and Dina Upadhyay.
According to NC's Election Committee, a total of 14 people under Tharu cluster, 87 people under indigenous nationalities cluster, 93 under Khash/Aarya cluster, 39 from Dalit cluster, 31 from women cluster, 2 from backward region cluster, 16 from disabled cluster have filed candidacy for the post party's Central Working Committee (CWC) member.
The NC's Election Committee had open registration for the nomination from 10 AM to 5 PM on Saturday. The final list of the candidates will be made public on Sunday after addressing complaints, if any, against the candidates. If they wish so, those filing nominations are allowed to withdraw their candidacy by Sunday.
