Police suspect the outlawed Netra Bikram Chand-led Maoist outfit could have carried out the blast.

Dhakal is one of the accused in the high-profile Lalita Niwas scam, in which a large area of government-owned land was unscrupulously brought into private ownership and sold to various individuals.

Police are currently investigating the land scam and have filed a case against several individuals including Dhakal.
