SALLERI (Solukhumbu), Feb 12: The Solukhumbu branch of the Nepal Food Corporation (NFC) at Salleri is struggling to sell off its subsidized rice for what consumers complained comparatively higher price.
The consumers complained that the price of rice the branch sells is higher than that of rice sold in the local market.
The branch Chief Shambhu Prasad Regmi also admitted to the fact that the price of rice the branch sells is comparatively higher.

For instance, one kilogram mansuli rice the branch sells is priced at Rs 47.50 while the same amount of rice is sold for Rs 45 in the market. The Salleri depot has 242 quintals of rice in its stock.
When asked whether they are not considering the price revision, he said higher fees spent on the supply led to setting higher price of rice they sell.
Without other options left, he said preparations were underway to send the unsold stocked rice at the Salleri depot to Lukla Depot.
He also said a communiqué has been sent to the District Administration and the central office of the NFC for the price revision, following this incident. Likewise, the NFC is yet to replenish the stock at Sotang depot as rice with the depot failing to sell its rice due to complaints of higher set price. RSS
