Some 150 households to be affected by Tamor Hydroelectricity Project

PANCHTHAR, Nov 1: Nearly 150 households living close to the Tamor River are going to be displaced due to the 762-Megawatt Tamor Hydroelectricity Project.

PANCHTHAR, Nov 1: Nearly 150 households living close to the Tamor River are going to be displaced due to the 762-Megawatt Tamor Hydroelectricity Project.


The Majhi and some Tamang community households at Pinasighat, Majhitar, Nakkaleyghat and Lubughat area will face displacement due to the reservoir-type project, it is stated. These settlements will be submerged after the construction of the reservoir for the project.

Also the power houses of the Lower Hewa Hydroelectricity Project and the Upper Hewa Hydroelectricity Project as well as the Kabeli A Hydroelectricity Project will be submerged by the dam.


Coordinator of the Tamor Hydroelectricity Project Concerned Committee and former lawmaker Basanta Kumar Nembang said the details of the total households and physical infrastructures to be affected by the project would be known only after detailed survey of the project is carried out. RSS
