Friends in need
“I started struggling with my vision when I was in sixth grade. I had a problem in my retina. It was fairly difficult when I first began reading in braille, but now the apps and all other technologies have made it easier. Moreover, my friends help me a lot by reading out loud for me,” says 20-year-old Shiva Agrawal (left). He is a bachelor’s level student of Psychology and Social Work from Birgunj. Similarly, Umesh BK (right), 22-year-old bachelor’s level student of Journalism from Hetauda says, “We have been friends for six years and helping each other since our school days. People feel uneasy to come by and read for him, and sometimes tape recorders are bothersome because you have to rewind, pause and stop it time and again. So, I read for him.”
