KATHMANDU, Feb 23: Speaker Devraj Ghimire has initiated discussions with the chief whips and whips of various parties to facilitate the resumption of House of Representatives (HoR) proceedings. On Friday, the HoR session was disrupted by speeches from both ruling and opposition party MPs.
Following a dispute among the ruling and opposition MPs during the 11 AM session, Ghimire adjourned the meeting for 15 minutes. However, the session failed to resume even after an hour and a half. Expert Shekhar Adhikari stated that the Speaker is currently engaged in discussions with the chief whips and whips of different parties in his office to ensure a smooth continuation of the meeting.

During the session, the CPN-UML demanded the resignation of Physical Infrastructure Minister Prakash Jwala over the incident involving the deaths of two youths in Balkumari on December 23. Additionally, they called for the public release of the investigation report.
Similarly, the UML has been pressing for the removal of Health Minister Mohan Basnet and Tourism Minister Sudan Kirati from the government, citing alleged irregularities in the process of assigning contracts of Ramgram area to private companies. With the government's failure to address these opposition demands, a parliamentary deadlock has ensued.
