KATHMANDU, Feb 28: The Special Court on Thursday convicted former minister Sanjay Sah alias Takla of corruption as well as money laundering. Sah is currently serving a life term in Nakkhu prison for ‘masterminding’ bombing in Janakpur a few years ago.
A three-member bench of judges Krishna Giri, Shanti Singh Thapa and Chandra Bahadur Saru convicted Sah on money laundering as well as corruption cases.

Convicting him on charges of corruption as well as money laundering, the Special Court slapped four years jail sentence and imposed a fine of Rs 190 million and confiscation of the equal amount Rs 190 for committing the offenses. Concluding a-week-long hearing, the Special Court on Thursday issued the verdict.
The Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) and Money Laundering Department had filed cases against him three years ago at the Special Court.
The anti-graft constitutional body had demanded Rs 310 million confiscation from him while filing the corruption case against him. Similarly, the Department of Money Laundering had also demanded that
Rs 320 million be confiscated from him while filing the charge-sheet against him.
