KATHMANDU, May 10: A special session of parliament is scheduled for today. The Oli-led government will face a vote of confidence casting in the 275-member House.
The Speaker of the House of Representative is scheduled to read out a letter from the President, convening the session in the first sitting of the House. The Speaker will then set a time for the vote of confidence. In the second sitting, leaders will be given time to speak. Sources said that the vote of confidence will be taken after the leaders finish their speech.

With the permission of the Speaker, on the day and time specified in the House of Representatives Regulations, 2075 BS, the Prime Minister may make a statement in this regard and submit a motion for the vote of confidence in the meeting of the House.
Accordingly, in the second meeting, Prime Minister Oli will give his statement and submit a proposal for a vote of confidence. The question raised in the meeting will be answered by the Prime Minister or a minister appointed by him. After that the Speaker will present a proposal on whether the House has confidence in the Prime Minister or not.
There is a provision that the decision of the House on the motion of confidence shall be taken by division of votes with the signature of the members. If Prime Minister fails to get the vote of confidence or secure 136 votes in favor of his request in the current Parliament, the Speaker has to immediately inform the President.
A meeting of the Business Advisory Committee held on Sunday decided that the corona-infected lawmakers will not be deprived of their right to vote during Monday’s proceedings, according to Roj Nath Pandey, spokesperson for the Parliament Secretariat.
