KATHMANDU, Oct 22: On the eighth day of Navratri, the Maha Ashtami festival is being observed with great enthusiasm, marked by the special worship of Goddess Durga.


This significant occasion involves the ceremonial sacrifice of animals at various temples across the nation, including Dashain Ghar, as prescribed by ancient scriptures. Additionally, devotees engage in the recitation of sacred texts such as Durga Saptashati, Devi Bhagwat, and Devi Stotra.

Temples like Guhyeshwari, Maitidevi, Kalikasthan, Bhadrakali, Naxal Bhagwati, Shobha Bhagwati, Bijeshwari, Indrayani, Raktakali, Bajrayogini, Sankata, Bajrabarahi, Dakshinkali, Chamunda, Sundarimai, Bhatbhateni, Bangalamukhi, and others are bustling with devotees offering their prayers and offerings since the early hours.


Likewise, similar rituals are observed in temples like Mankamana in Gorkha, Gahwamai in Parsa, Chinnamasta Bhagwati in Saptari, Rajdevi in Dhanusha, Ugratara in Dadeldhura, Chandeshwari in Kavrepalanchowk, Nala Bhagwati, and Palanchok Bhagwati in Sindhupalchok, Kalichowk Bhagwati in Dolakha, Pathibhara in Taplejung, and Ambikeshwari in Dang. Devout worshippers flock to these sacred sites to pay their respects and partake in the festivities.
