POKHARA, May 17: Two Indian trekkers who were stranded during an Annapurna Circuit trek have been rescued safely.
According to Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Bhojraj Pandey, police chief of Mustang, a group of 10 Indian trekkers, consisting of seven men and three women, were descending to Mustang on Wednesday after crossing Thorong La Pass from Manang. They were accompanied by six Nepali guides and helpers.

DSP Pandey reported that two trekkers from the Indian group, Tony Parmar and Aman Jyoti Parmar from Mumbai, India, fell behind while crossing Thorong La Pass and descending to Muktinath. They lost contact with the rest of the group.
"During the trek, the Parmar duo fell behind the others and then the weather turned bad, stranding them in the middle," said Pandey. “They stayed in the tent all night on Wednesday. The police rescued them on Thursday morning,” he added.
The two trekkers had been out of contact since Wednesday afternoon. Unable to continue due to the sudden worsening of the weather, they sought shelter. "After the snowfall, they got scared and stayed in a tent. They were safe as they took shelter in a tent" Pandey added.
The rest of the group reported the lost contact to the area police office in Muktinath by telephone at 5:30 AM on Thursday. Subsequently, seven security personnel, led by DSP Pandey, along with two officers from the local police office and Narayan Dal Battalion, were mobilized for the search.
A team including Nepali helpers from the trekking group was deployed for the search. The rescue team, traveling by helicopter, found the stranded trekkers at the lower T-Sup camp of Baragung Mukti Kshetra Rural Municipality-2 in Mustang, below Thorong La, at 10 AM on Thursday. The trekkers were rescued by a helicopter and sent to Kathmandu via Jomsom.
