KATHMANDU, April 5: Tremors were felt in eastern parts of Nepal after an earthquake measuring 5.4 magnitude struck near Sikkim's capital in Gantok, India on Monday night.
The epicenter of the earquake was 25 kilometer east-Southeast of Gantok, Sikkim, Indian media reported citing the National Center for Seismology. The earthquake struck at 9:04 pm at a depth of 10 km from the surface.
Earthquake tremors felt in Taplejung
Apart from Sikkim, North Bengal and Bihar in India, strong tremors were felt in Bhutan and eastern part of Nepal. A large number of people in eastern districts in Nepal had rushed out of their houses as precaution as the strong tremors triggered panic among them.
There are no reports of injuries or human casualties.
