PALPA, Jan 29: The Nepal Students Union of Palpa burned effigies of Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli for endorsing the Medical Education Bill. Yesterday, the National Assembly also tabled the Bill for approval amid protests from Nepali Congress parliamentarians.

The students burned Oli's effigy at Tribhuvan Multiple Campus. The police had repeatedly doused the burning effigy. While there was no clash between agitators and the police, central member of NSU, Haribol Bhattarai accused the police of suppressing their protests inside the campus premises.

The protestors accused the government of hiding its "ill motives" and questioned its silence over the widebody aircraft purchase and irregularities while procuring vehicles in provinces.

"The government is boasting its two-thirds majority wrongly," Bhattarai said. The agitators said that they wouldn't be deterred by the actions of the communist government and accused it of finding ways to "earn".
