Nepali surveyors have completed the Everest measurement works for the first time in Nepal's survey history.
The surveyors' team will share its findings regarding the height of the Everest to the government only after few months, according to officials at the Survey Department.
The expedition team assigned by the government had left for the Everest on April 10 to re-measure the height of the world's highest peak. Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli had bid farewell to the expedition team members.
Four government officials Khimlal Gautam, Rabin Karki, Suraj Singh Bhandari and Yuvaraj Dhital were among members of the expedition team who were assigned to re-measure the height the Everest.
Nepal's efforts to re-measure the height of the Everest comes amid speculations from various quarters that the world's tallest mountain had shrunk after the 2015 devastating earthquake that claimed at least 9000 lives.
Although expedition teams from various countries measured the altitude of the Mount Everest and produced diverse results, Nepal never became part of those expedition teams.
Nepal has so far recognized 8,848 metres as the altitude of the mountain which was measured by the Survey of India in 1954.
