KATHMANDU, July 10: A day after the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) took disciplinary action against him, suspended General Secretary Mukul Dhakal has called for an internal investigation against the party's president Rabi Lamichhane.
During the 45-minute press conference on Wednesday, Dhakal argued that Lamichhane should be investigated within the party for alleged passport and cooperative fraud. He referenced a Supreme Court order from Justices Sapana Pradhan Malla and Saranga Subedi, suggesting an investigation into Lamichhane's involvement in the cooperative case.

"There was no public complaint until yesterday, but now that the respected court has spoken, will an investigation committee be formed within the party? According to the Supreme Court's order, there should be an independent high-level investigation from within the party," he said.
Dhakal spoke extensively without answering journalists' questions, revealing that he had previously defended Lamichhane's every move. However, their relationship has recently deteriorated after he criticized the government and its functioning.
Dhakal stated that disagreements with Lamichhane began when he criticized the government's performance, particularly those from the RSP. He said, "The main dispute is that the government became inefficient. We need to self-criticize publicly, be transparent and admit our shortcomings. Despite our efforts, many things didn't happen due to bureaucratic resistance. We need to address this openly."
Dhakal also alleged that Lamichhane manipulated people close to him, including Joint-Treasurer Deepak Bohra, Joint-Spokesperson Ramesh Prasai, and Central Member Jwala Sangraula and mobilized them against him. He mentioned that he had requested a meeting with Lamichhane, but it was denied.
