Suspicious object found in Biratnagar, two suspects arrested

MORANG, Feb 13: A suspicious object resembling a bomb was found near Durga Chowk in Biratnagar Municipality. The suspicious object, described as a pressure cooker tied with tape, was found on Monday evening between a mango tree and a house.

After the suspicious object was found, the police provided security throughout the night and restricted the movement of people around the incident site.


DSP Chedilal Kamti, spokesperson at District Police Office, Morang, said that a team of the Nepali Army personnel arrived at the scene to dispose of the suspicious object.

He said that the preliminary investigation revealed that the group which was spreading terror to private schools and other businesses placed the suspicious items.


Police have also arrested two people suspected to have been involved in the incident.


It has been revealed that the arrested persons were earlier members of Netra Bikram Chand 'Biplav' group. Their full details have not been disclosed by the police.


Police sources said that the detained individuals were allegedly involved in activities of spreading terror among schools after their separation from the Biplab group. A pamphlet demanding financial assistance was also found at the scene.
