KATHMANDU, Feb 21: In a tragic incident, a man killed his wife and two children before taking his own life in the Sitapaila area of Kathmandu on Wednesday.

Thirty-seven-year-old Kaji Bishwakarma brutally murdered his 39-year-old wife, Prem Kumari Shrestha, along with their eight-year-old daughter, Anisa, and two-year-old granddaughter, Siwana, at Sitapaila at around 9:30 AM. Kaji was later found to have committed suicide by hanging on a tree in the Sitapaila area.

A team from the District Police Range, Kathmandu, and the Kathmandu Valley Crime Investigation Office promptly reached the incident site at Nagarjun Municipality-6, Swayambhu, shortly after the incident was reported.

According to the spokesman at the Valley Crime Investigation Office, Superintendent of Police (SP) Rabindra Regmi, compelling evidence indicates that the three deceased were victims of homicide. The police suspect that homemade weapons were used in the crime.

According to police sources, Kaji encountered his 15-year-old son, Anish, while leaving the scene after the horrific incident. Anish, who was returning home after shopping some grocery items, captured a video in which Kaji admitted to committing the grievous act. The video has been acquired by the police as crucial evidence.

"The video reveals Kaji explaining to his son that he committed the act because he believed his wife was involved in an extramarital affair," stated a police source.

The police disclosed that domestic disputes involving Kaji and Prem Kumari had been reported multiple times, with Kaji even filing a complaint at the Swayambhu police circle, alleging that Prem Kumari had been assaulted by another man. However, tensions escalated when Prem Kumari expressed her intention to marry the person accused of rape.

Prem Kumari, in her second marriage with Kaji, had a son from her previous husband, who currently resides abroad. Fortunately, the daughter-in-law of the son abroad is safe, having left home for work.

Although Kaji encountered his son Anish while out shopping, he did not harm him. "Kaji seems to have loved his son very much," mentioned a police officer involved in the investigation. "He even stated in the video that he committed these acts for his son's future."

Kaji worked as a carpenter, while Prem Kumari served as a housewife. Further investigation into the incident is currently underway.
