KATHMANDU, June 25: The semi-final schedule for the T20 World Cup has been confirmed following Afghanistan's decisive victory over Bangladesh, which also led to Australia's elimination from the tournament. The first semi-final will see South Africa taking on Afghanistan in Trinidad and Tobago, while the second semi-final will feature a clash between India and England in Guyana.


Afghanistan secured their place in the semi-finals by defeating Bangladesh in the final match of the Super Eight stage. This win not only confirmed their advancement but also knocked both Bangladesh and Australia out of the competition. The teams that have made it to the semi-finals are India, England, South Africa, and Afghanistan.

South Africa topped Group 2 in the Super Eight stage and will aim to maintain their unbeaten record when they face Afghanistan at the Brian Lara Cricket Academy on Wednesday, June 26. Afghanistan's hard-fought victory over Bangladesh in St Vincent, where they scored 115/5 and bowled out Bangladesh for 105 in a rain-affected game, winning by 8 runs (DLS method), ensured their advancement.


The second semi-final in Guyana on Thursday, June 27, will see unbeaten India taking on the reigning T20 World Cup champions, England. India secured their semi-final spot with an impressive victory over Australia and will be looking to avenge their previous 10-wicket loss to England at the Adelaide Oval in the most recent T20 World Cup.

•    First Semi-Final: South Africa vs. Afghanistan, Wednesday, June 26 (8:30 PM local time), Brian Lara Cricket Academy, Tarouba, Trinidad and Tobago.


•    Second Semi-Final: India vs. England, Thursday, June 27 (10:30 AM local time), Guyana National Stadium, Guyana.
