Thousands of children, with bright minds and hopeful futures, are still denied the fundamental right to education in Sarlahi district in Madhesh province. Reportedly, around 8,000 children are out of school owing to various reasons even as a new academic session has already commenced.  This is not just a statistic; it's a stark reminder of our collective failure to uphold the basic rights of our youngest citizens. These children are deprived of the opportunity to learn, grow, and build a better tomorrow for themselves and their communities. All the government bodies concerned together with other stakeholders must act together to make sure that these children reach schools. Behind these numbers lie stories of missed opportunities, unrealized potential, and systemic inequalities. It's imperative that we recognize the multifaceted nature of this issue. Poverty, lack of awareness, and cultural barriers are among the many factors contributing to this educational crisis. Too often, children from impoverished families, as well as those from marginalized communities such as Dalits and Muslims, bear the brunt of these challenges. Their dreams are stifled not by lack of ability or ambition, but by the barriers erected by a society that has yet to fully embrace the transformative power of education.

At the forefront of addressing this issue are the dedicated individuals and local authorities who are tirelessly working to reverse this trend. Initiatives such as the Student Enrollment Campaign demonstrate a commitment to inclusive education, aiming to bring every child into the fold of learning. Door-to-door campaigns and awareness rallies are valuable tools in this endeavor, reaching out to communities where the need is greatest. It reflects the importance of education in shaping a brighter future. However, it is clear that more needs to be done. The magnitude of the challenge demands a concerted effort from all stakeholders, including government bodies, civil society organizations, educators, parents, and the broader community. We cannot afford to leave any child behind. Every child, regardless of their background or circumstances, deserves access to quality education.

A number of measures can be taken to achieve the goal of sending all children to schools. First and foremost, there must be a renewed emphasis on raising awareness about the importance of education, particularly among parents and guardians. Providing support and resources to families facing financial hardship is essential to ensuring that economic barriers do not stand in the way of a child's education. Additionally, targeted interventions are needed to address the specific needs of marginalized communities and remove the systemic obstacles that prevent their children from attending school. Building a robust and inclusive education system can create an environment where every child can thrive and reach their full potential. The situation of children in Sarlahi is not an isolated case. There are thousands of children in other parts of the country who are still out of school. As we strive to build a more equitable and just society, we must prioritize the education of our children. It is not only a moral responsibility but also a strategic investment in the future prosperity of our nation. We urge all stakeholders including the government to work towards ensuring that every child in the country has the opportunity to learn, grow, and succeed.
