KATHMANDU, March 29: Traffic Police have arrested taxi driver Kamal Bahadur Shrestha for leaving heart patient Gopal Ranjit by roadside at Boudhha area, on Thursday night.
According to Rajan Karki, assistant sub-inspector Gaushala, taxi driver Shrestha was arrested after the family members of the patient complained of the incident that occurred along the Chabahil-Boudhha road section on Wednesday afternoon.

Ranjit, 60, who was suffering from heart-related ailments, was on the way to his home by taxi (Ba 1 Kha 3851) after treatment at Helping Hands Hospital, Chabahil. But, taxi driver Shrestha dragged Ranjit out of taxi and left him stranded along the roadside. Sadly, the heart patient breathed his last later in the day.
Acting on complaint of his family members, police were able to arrest the driver with the help of CCTV footage. The video footage, which has gone viral on social media, shows the driver dragging the patient out of the taxi. Twitter users have been lashing out at the taxi driver for loosing humanity.
ASI Karki added that Shrestha will be punished in accordance with prevailing laws.
