KHOTANG, Nov 16: Temporary police recruited for ensuring security in the upcoming parliamentary and provincial polls have been mobilized to their respective workplaces in Khotang from Monday.
The government has hired as many as 982 temporary cops to the district. According to DSP Lok Darshan Thapa of the District Police Office (DPO), Khotang some of the temporary police have already been stationed at their workplaces and some will be deployed after a few days.

The temporary police have been entrusted with the responsibility to prevent anti-election activities such as clashes and vandalism that may foil the elections.
"We have sent the temporary police to the respective area police offices, from where they will be mobilized to their respective polling booths," said DSP Thapa.
Even though the government had sought only 982 temporary cops for the district, the number of applicants were significantly high. As many as 2,021 candidates had filed their applications for the temporary police job.
Candidate's above 18 years and below 50 years of age with general writing and reading skills have been selected for this job. Altogether 136 polling booths and 179 polling centers have been fixed in the district for the upcoming polls.
