Terai districts to experience heat waves for three days, caution advised

KATHMANDU, May 28: The Department of Hydrology and Meteorology has predicted hot air to prevail in the Terai districts for three days.


The department issued a bulletin on Monday to inform that hot air will prevail in Terai districts for three days from Monday.

The department also said that the maximum temperature has been measured at 40 degrees Celsius or more in some places in the Terai region of Sudurpaschim and Lumbini provinces for the past few days.


Hot air and heat waves cause fatigue, weakness, excessive thirst, headache, leg cramps, dizziness, fainting, muscle pain, vomiting etc.


To avoid such symptoms during summer, it is suggested to stay indoors and in a cool place, refrain from going outside unnecessarily, wear light cotton clothes, cover head when going out, wear a hat, regularly (frequently) drinking water and soft drinks (juice, syrup, etc.) The department has requested to be in regular contact with the health workers in case of health problems.
