The top leaders of the newly-formed party have also expressed interest in joining the government.

“On the occasion, we also reminded PM Deuba of the Tikapur incident but did not hold solid discussions on joining the government”, said Sharat Singh Bhandari, a senior leader of the party.

On his part, PM Deuba vowed to fulfill our demands, said Uma Shankar Argaiya.

Following the issuance of the ‘party-split’ ordinance, the splinter faction of Janata Samajbadi Party-led by Thakur has filed an application at the Election Commission (EC) to register a new political party named Democratic Socialist Party.
