POKHARA, Oct 10: The Commission for Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) has arrested Assistant Attorney at the District Prosecutor’s Office in Kaski, Surendra Thapa, when he was taking a bribe of Rs 5, 00000 from a service seeker, on Wednesday.
Based on a tip-off, a team of the anti-graft body caught red-handed Thapa at his office premises when he was taking bribes, the spokesperson at the CIAA regional office based in Pokhara, Ramesh Dhakal, told Republica.

The CIAA has taken Thapa into custody for further investigation. Thapa is said to have asked for the bribe not to appeal a fraud case at the Apex Court.
Earlier on Tuesday, Khyam Narayan Paudel and Sanjaya Sharma, the two officials of the Land Revenue Office, were arrested by the CIAA when they were taking a bribe of Rs 50,000 at their office premises.
