CHITWAN, Nov 15: Chair of CPN-Maoist (Center), Pushpa Kamal Dahal has said that the current government’s decision to scrap agreement with China’s Gezuwa company for the construction of Budi Gandaki Hydro Power was wrong. Dahal had expressed his opinion while publicizing his commitments at Chitwan.
An agreement was with the Chinese side was reached following a cabinet meeting during Dahal’s premiership. “The government single handedly scrapped the deal to hinder economic development. It reflects political bias and vested interest from the government’s side.” Scrapping the agreement that was reached by sitting together the company as well as with representatives of Chinese government was wrong.

“Budi Gandaki project is ambitious and a proud project of Nepal. If this had been successful, it would have brought immense economic revolution. We had worked hard to bring it to conclusion. Regardless of the reasons, scrapping the agreement was wrong,” Dahal said adding that while they were in the government, they were not consulted for the decision.
“We are in the government, but without ministries. We are in the government with hopes to resolve problems that might emerge,” Dahal said. However, the government has been working on its own – without consultations.
“If the government was to decide on its own, we’d have pulled back our ministers. But we’ve not been able to do it because of constitutional provisions. However, with Budi Gandaki project, we shouldn’t have done it,” Dahal said.
