TILOTTAMA (RUPANDEHI), May 27: Three third gender individuals have announced their candidacy for the June 14 local level elections.
The candidacy was announced at a press conference organised by the Blue Diamond Society in Butwal on Friday. Accordingly, Santu Pun is standing for the post of member of Ward no. 8 of Butwal sub-metropolis, Aanik Rana from ward no. 8 of Tilottama municipality and Bipul Basnet from Ward no. 10 of Devdaha municipality.

Aanik Rana and Santu Pun, who had contested the Constituent Assembly elections too, said that they were filing the candidacy from the Naya Shakti party as the large parties did not give them a ticket. Council member of Naya Shakti party Yagya Pokharel confirmed their candidacy from the party.
There are around 6,000 third gender people in Rupandehi, according to the Society. RSS
