POKHARA, Dec 18: Pokhara Film Society is organizing the third edition of Pokhara International Mountain Film Festival in December 21 to 23. The society organized a press meet on December 15 to announce the dates. 


The film festival will showcase as many as 43 Nepali and foreign films at Pokhara City Hall, informed the Society’s Secretary General Bishnu Gautam. The annual film festival has helped in the development of films in Pokhara while also encouraging filmmakers to make with humanitarian aspect.

“The film festival is also important from tourism point of view and this year we have tried to increase the quality of films. We believe that these films advocate human rights of people living in the mountainous regions and help in promotion of the places where they live,” said Gautam.


This year, Nepal Tourism Board and Pokhara-Lekhnath Municipality have supported the event. The selection committee has chosen 43 movies from a total of 900 films. The fest will screen documentaries, fiction and investigative films, among others, from more than 20 countries. 


Pokhara International Mountain Film Festival will begin with short films screening in the first day, according to festival coordinator Saroj Sapkota. The entrance at the festival is free.
