CHITWAN, Feb 4: The Third Rhino Range Countries Meeting has begun at Patihani of Chitwan district from Friday. The three-day meet is being attended by high-ranking officials of five countries in South Asia and will focus on the conservation of one-horned rhinos, it has been said.
The participating countries are Nepal, India, Bhutan, Indonesia and Malaysia, said Dr Ganesh Panta, information officer for the Department of National Parks and Wildlife Conservation.

Similarly, joint secretaries of the respective ministries and directors general of the department of forest and national parks, government employees who work in fields, and experts on rhino from other participating countries are attending the event, he said.
Rhino experts will present their papers and exchange their experiences in the related field, according to Information Officer Panta.
The meeting is expected to have a discussion on a host of challenges in conserving one-horned rhinos, and future plans would be made accordingly, he said. The First Rhino Range Countries Meeting had taken place in Indonesia, and second in India. (RSS)
