Dahal said that the Thori-Kerung border is strategically important for its short distance as a key advantage. She pointed out that the Thori small customs office, operational for two months, now provides temporary permits for vehicles used by Indian tourists, previously only available in Birgunj. This new service aims to significantly boost tourism activities.

Devi Sahi Meena, the Indian Consul General in Birgunj, stressed the deep-rooted cultural and religious ties between India and Nepal, encouraging visits to religious and tourist sites in both countries. Lal Bahadur Shrestha, chairman of Thori Rural Municipality, noted an increase in Indian tourists reaching Thori and urged for continued encouragement of such visits.
