KATHMANDU, Dec 19:  The Department of Transport Management (DoTM) has said that three new transport management offices will come into operation in the Kathmandu Valley only by the mid-January.

Although preparations were underway to establish the offices within the mid-December, we missed the deadline owing to delay in renting office space and arranging logistics, said DoTM Spokesperson Tok Raj Pandey.

Minister for Transport Ramesh Lekhak, during his visit to the Ekantakuna-based Transport Management Office on November 29, had ordered the DoTM to establish three additional offices to facilitate the service seekers. Snake-like queues are common sights at the only transport management office in the Capital City.

The offices are yet to come into operation even 20 days after the direction by the Minister. DoTM officials said the delay was caused as they have to follow legal procedures to start new offices.

Spokesperson Pandey told Republica Online that preparations were underway to establish an office in Suryabinayak, Bhaktapur before coming Sunday. He added that offices will be established in Kalanki and Chabahil a week later of operation of the Suryabinayak-based office.
