KATHMANDU, Dec 29: Police arrested three individuals who were allegedly involved in taking out kidneys from innocent people by promising them with good jobs. Police made them public on Thursday though they were arrested on December 21 from different places.

The arrested have been identified as Binu Bahadur Timalsina, 44, of Mahadevsthan-8 in Kavrepalanchowk, who is currently living in Bouddha; Prakash Basnet, 47, of Bhimeshwar-5 in Dolkaha, who is currently living in Bhaktapur and Bhim Prasad Neupane, 36, of Dangsing-5 in Kaski. He is now living in Pokhara.

The Metropolitan Crime Division of Nepal Police said that the three accused were remanded in custody for further investigation on charges of human trafficking. Police informed that other two traffickers who were also involved in the case are absconding.

According to chief of the division SSP Sarbendra Khanal, the gang took innocent Nepali citizens to Indian cities by promising them of good jobs and took out their kidney after making them unconscious. They used to sell the vital organs without the knowledge of the victims.

The police informed that Deepak Nepali, 19, of Mucho VDC of Gorkha is the only victim who has so far complained to the police about the theft of his kidney without his knowledge. Police, however, has assumed there are many victims like him.

According to the police, the gang found Deepak Nepali in Pokhara in July and offered him attractive job.  He was then taken to India.

“Nepali came to know about the removal of his kidney only when he was admitted to Chitwan Medical College for his check up after he suffered health complications,” reads a statement released by the division.

“After taking them to India, they made the victims unconscious and removed their kidneys through surgery. When the victims regain consciousness, the criminals would say that they were hospitalized after being attacked with a knife by gangsters,” SSP Khanal told Republica.

Khanal informed that the criminals would give some money to the victims after taking out their kidney and ask them to return to their homes.
