Three DIG positions vacant in Nepal Police

KATHMANDU, April 21: Nepal Police faces a vacancy of three Deputy Inspector General (DIG) positions.

KATHMANDU, April 21: Nepal Police faces a vacancy of three Deputy Inspector General (DIG) positions. Additional Inspector General (AIG) Sandeep Bhandari retired on April 17, and AIG Meera Chaudhary Tharu on April 19 due to the age limit of 56. Similarly, DIG Bikash Raj Khanal retired on April 19.


DIG Umesh Raj Joshi and Bhim Prasad Dhakal have been recommended for AIG promotions by the Ministry of Home Affairs to fill the vacancies left by the retirements.

Now, with these promotions, two DIG positions remain vacant. Another vacancy has opened due to Khanal's retirement, totaling three vacant DIG positions. Several Senior Superintendents of Police (SSPs) are in contention for these positions, including candidates from IG Basanta Bahadur Kunwar's batch and those promoted on 9 July 2022.
