NAWALPARASI, Aug 7: Three more community forests in Nawalparasi have been brought under the Scientific Forest Management (SFM) scheme.

The scientific management was undertaken in Belhani, Gaindakot and Bardaghat localities. The Janajagaran Community Forest of Naya Belhani, Chisapani Community Forest of Bardaghat and Bhedabari Community Forest of Gaindakot have been brought under the scientific management scanner, said District Forest Official, Bijaya Raj Subedi.

Subedi said the SFM will benefit in enhancing the status of the forests, make use of withered trees and help the government generate revenue as well as creating employment in local levels.

As part of the SFM, the withered and old trees will be cut down and regeneration schemes launched, according to Assistant Forest Official, Pramod Bhattarai said.

The scientific management of forests started in 2011 in Nawalparasi which now straddles the districts of Kailali, Morang and Rupendehi. RSS
