Three person from same family die in powerhouse collapse

SURKHET, July 15: When the powerhouse of the Khola Small Hydropower Projects caved in, three people lost their lives. Three members of the same family were killed when the powerhouse collapsed due to rain at around 2.30 AM on Thursday.

SURKHET, July 15: When the powerhouse of the Khola Small Hydropower Projects caved in, three people lost their lives. Three members of the same family were killed when the powerhouse collapsed due to rain at around 2.30 AM on Thursday.


According to Poshraj Pokharel, Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG) and chief of the Province Police Office, Karnali, the deceased were identified as Bimala Raut, 30, wife of Security Guard Gorakh Bahadur Raut and her two sons, Bharat Raut,9, and Surya Raut,7.

According to the police, by the time Gorakh returned home, his house was already flooded. He said, "Immediately, the police station nearby and the locals took the buried bodies out."


Gorakh’s family had been living there ever since the 80 KW hydropower project came into operation. According to DIG Pokharel, a team has been deployed from the District Police Office Jumla under the command of Police Inspector Dharmaraj Joshi. He said that the bodies will be brought to Karnali Academy of Health Sciences for post-mortem.
