According to the TIA, two international flights were cancelled while four international flights were diverted. “The flights of Sichuan Airlines and Air China were cancelled,” said Devendra KC, general manager of the TIA, “Flights of Qatar Airways, China Southern Airlines, Thai Airways, and Nepal Airlines were diverted.”

China Southern Airlines' flight was diverted to Dhaka and Nepal Airlines' flight to Delhi. KC said that the diverted flights made their landings in Kathmandu after the rain subsided.

Meanwhile, the sole international airport also suffered power outage for approximately 25 minutes. “Fluctuation in power caused power outage,” KC said, adding: “It was just for a short time, the airport came back into operation after the power problem was solved.”

TIA officials contribute cloudy weather for the affected operation. The flights in the country's sole international airport are affected every time the weather worsens.
