JANAKI (BANKE), Oct 3: Time card system has been introduced at Banke National Park along the East-West Highway from Monday.
Information Officer at Banke National Park, Arjun Bhusal, said a timecard system has been put in place following the rise in road accidents and death of wildlife due to vehicle-wildlife collisions along the highway.
Building the Road to Wildlife Safety
He mentioned, "They introduced the time card with the rise in fatal road accidents in the National Park area and growing safety threats to wildlife. It has been implemented from Obhari of Shumshergunj, Raptisonaru rural municipality-8 to Kanchanpur Zero Point (Khairi Check post)." Bhusal shared time card system has been implemented along the 15-kilometer distance inside Banke National Park. It will take 23-28 minutes for a vehicle to cross the distance.
The decision was taken to bring the time card system into practice following recommendations from locals, civil society and entrepreneurs. Established in 2067 BS with an objective of promoting conservation of the habitat of tigers and biological route, Banke National Park is the 10th national park of the country that has covered 550 square kilometers area and is connected with Bardiya, Dang and Salyan districts.
