You know it’s essential to stay hydrated but you also often forget to drink water and only reach for a glass when you are absolutely parched. Here are some super easy strategies that can get you drinking more water.

Drink water first thing in the morning

By drinking at least a liter of water first thing in the morning, you get a head start on the rest of the day and you won’t have to struggle to meet your daily goal. To remember to drink water as soon as you wake up in the morning, put a glass of water on your nightstand and drink this before you get out of bed.

Sip on herbal tea

Drink it hot in the winter months and ice it in summer. Whether you like citrus, floral, spicy, there’s a tea out there for you. Once you get into the habit of drinking tea, you just can’t do without it. This is a great way to sneak water into your system while upping your antioxidant intake as well.

Download an app to monitor your water intake

If you keep track of your activities, you are more likely to stick to it. By keeping a record of how many glasses of water you drink in a day, you are sure to meet your daily requirements. There are many free apps that will remind you to drink water in fixed intervals. Alternatively, you can also set a timer on your phone as a reminder to your top up your glass of water.

Get into the habit of drinking a glass of water after every bathroom break

Drink a glass of water every time you come back from a bathroom break. As you will already be getting up to go to the bathroom, you can stop by the water cooler to fill up your bottle or glass. The more water you drink, the more you will have to go to the bathroom, which means the more water you will drink, and so on.

Carry a water bottle with you at all times

Often times you don’t drink water because you don’t have water with you. So invest in a steel flask that can keep your water hot or cold (depending on what you want) and get into the habit of carrying it all the time. Refill the bottle wherever you can and try to get at least four to five refills in a day.
