TJ bill to be submitted to parliament in upcoming meeting

KATHMANDU, Aug 9: The Law, Justice, and Human Rights Committee of the House of Representatives (HoR) has requested Speaker Devraj Ghimire to submit the transitional justice (TJ) bill in the upcoming parliament meeting.

KATHMANDU, Aug 9: The Law, Justice, and Human Rights Committee of the House of Representatives (HoR) has requested Speaker Devraj Ghimire to submit the transitional justice (TJ) bill in the upcoming parliament meeting.


On Thursday, the committee discussed and approved the Bill to amend the Commission for Investigation of Enforced Disappeared Persons and Truth and Reconciliation Act, 2071 BS. The committee’s Chairperson Bimala Subedi has formally requested that the bill be presented at the next HoR meeting.

The bill, which was sent to the committee for weekly discussion on April 28, 2023, was passed by the recent committee meeting following an agreement reached at the highest political level.


The next HoR meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, August 14.
