Tourism Minister Bhattarai in hot water for causing flight delay (with video)

KATHMANDU, Sept 15: Tourism Minister Yogesh Kumar Bhattarai has apologized for causing a flight delay and inconvenience to passengers on Saturday.


Buddha Air passengers complained that their journey to Kathmandu from Dhangadhi was delayed by one hour due to Minister Bhattarai. The incident took place when the minister was returning to Kathmandu from Nepalgunj via Buddha Air flight after attending a fair at Tikapur, Kailali. 


A viral video on social media shows the enraged passengers are being seen chanting slogans against him for the flight delay. They also asked the minister to give the reason for the flight delay.

After coming back to Kathmandu on Saturday evening, the minister took to Twitter to apologize for causing the flight delay saying that it was not deliberate. He said that the flight was delayed by 15 minutes as the program he attended in Tikapur, Kailali lasted longer than expected.


"The Buddha Air flight was delayed by 15 minutes as per our request because the program lasted longer than expected. I sincerely apologize for causing the flight delay," Bhattarai said.
