Tourist guides, hotel entrepreneurs taking tourists inside Boudhanath area without ticket to face action

KATHMANDU, Sept 8: Action would be taken against tourist guides and hotel entrepreneurs involved in entering tourists inside the Boudhanath area without ticket.

KATHMANDU, Sept 8: Action would be taken against tourist guides and hotel entrepreneurs involved in entering tourists inside the Boudhanath area without ticket. 


Boudhanath Area Development Committee (BADC) has warned of action against those tourist guides and hotel entrepreneurs after it found that tourists entered inside this world heritage site without tickets in collusion with tourist guides and hotel entrepreneurs.  


Executive Director of the BADC Nayan Kumar Lama said that a list of the hotels located from Chuchepati to Jorpati is going to be prepared in the first phase for the action. Ticket counter of the Committee is open from 10AM  to 5PM.

According to the BADC, tourists are found staying at hotels in the night and visiting the Boudhanath area in the morning without a ticket.  


Tourists are found entering the Boudhanath area without ticket in collusion with hotel entrepreneurs, tourist guides and staff deputed in ticket counters. The BADC held discussion with hotel entrepreneurs in this regard in the first phase.


The BADC has determined Rs 100 per person as the entry fee for tourists from SAARC countries and Rs 400 per person for visitors from other countries except SAARC. Thousands of tourists visit the Boudhanath area every month.
