KATHMANDU, July 1: The Nepal Tourism Board (NTB) is going to launch a Tourist Police Mobile App in a bid to ensure security of the tourists visiting Nepal in 2020.
Government of Nepal is going to observe 2020 as a Visit Nepal Year with an objective to attract over two million tourists to Nepal and the mobile app is being launched with Visit Nepal 2020 in view.
Tourist Information Centre launched at Thamel
The government has stepped up the preparations accordingly. The mobile app, which is expected to address the issues relating to tourists, will be launched in a week.
The app will contain information on many things related to tourists such as the location of tourist police, Dos and Don'ts for tourists while they are in Nepal, hotline numbers, how to reach out to police and feedback from tourists among others, according to NTB.
Amrit Bahadur Basnet, Chief of Tourist Police Unit, Bhrikutimandap, said, “With the use of an app, it would be easier to find tourists if they go missing.” Further, NTB and Tourist Police Unit, Bhrikutimandap are going to set up Metropolitan Information Centre in Thamel, Kathmandu very soon to provide information on tourist spots in the Kathmandu Valley.
Likewise, Tourist Police Unit has set up temporary tourist police offices at Bouddha in Kathmandu, Bandipur in Tanahu and Patihani in Chitwan for the convenience of tourists.
