HETAUDA, July 14: Public transport operations have been halted on Chitlang-Chandragiri road sections until August 4.

Narayan Datta Bhandari, chief of the Road Division Office, Kathmandu, said that transportation on the road section will be halted from 10 AM to 5 PM till August 4 due to ongoing road maintenance activities.

Bhandari said that traffic will remain closed until August 4 due to ongoing road maintenance work during the monsoon season, which increases risks for operating public transportation.

The Road Division in Kathmandu is working to reduce high grade in the Seto Pahro area of the Chitlang-Chandragiri-Thankot road section. They are conducting 'back cutting' and 'grade down' work in areas where the road width is narrow.

Bhandari said that there was difficulty in 'back cutting' work due to hard rock. The Seto Pahro is the most dangerous area of this section due to many curves, narrow turns, up and down hills. The route is considered highly accident-prone.

Similarly, the short roads connecting Hetauda to Kathmandu are frequently blocked due to incessant rains. The Hetauda-Kulekhani-Sisneri route was only operational from 4 PM on Saturday.

Police have instructed travelers using the short route to travel Hetauda-Kathmandu to use the Bhimphedi-Kulekhani-Phakhel and Kulekhani-Matatirtha roads instead.
