KAVREPALANCHOK, April 23: Transport entrepreneurs have halted freights along the Araniko, B.P. and Helambu Highways to protest the direction made by the District Administration Office (DAO), Kavrepalanchowk to mandatorily weigh the loads they carry.
The DAO, Kavrepalanchowk directed in this regard in a meeting between transport entrepreneurs and stakeholders last Tuesday following a circular issued by the Ministry of Home Affairs to operate load weighing centers in the district.

Load weighing centers have been established at Keraghari in Panchkhal Municipality, Naikintar in Panauti and Bhakunde in Namobuddha.
According to the guidelines, more than six wheeled-cargo vehicles must carry a mandatory load. Rs 150 is charged per vehicle for weighing load at the load weighing center. Freights have come to a halt for the past two days.
Following the protest, police personnel in a large group have been deployed at all load weighing centers, said Superintendent of Police Bhagya Purush Dhakal.
