KATHMANDU, Jan 5: Tribhuvan University (TU) has invited applications to appoint the Vice-Chancellor through open competition. The Selection and Recommendation Committee formed to recommend names for the appointment of the Vice-Chancellor of TU has invited applications for open competition.
Earlier, Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal had announced that the vice chancellor would be selected on the basis of merit, ending political appointments within the university. Implementing the announcement of Tribhuvan University Chancellor-Prime Minister Dahal, the recommendation committee has started the process of selecting vice chancellors from Nepali citizens from all over the world based on qualifications and experience.

According to the notice, candidates aspiring for the position of TU Vice-Chancellor should hold a master's degree and have a minimum of three years of service in one of the official positions within the university.
Additionally, applicants are required to submit a vision paper and a four-year business plan outlining reforms for the university.
Prime Minister Dahal has directed that the annual calendar should be strictly implemented to improve the academic quality and all the universities should submit an immediate action plan to build the academic environment of the university.
