KATHMANDU, August 1: Residential doctors at Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital(TUTH) have made a decision to shun the OPD services from Wednesday in protest of the government ’s cavalier attitude toward Dr Govinda KC’s demand for the overhaul of medical education system.
Since the demand of Dr KC who is on fast-unto-death for the last nine days demanding for the reform in the medical education system of the country has not been fulfilled through fruitful discussion yet, the TUTH residential doctors have resorted to shunning the OPD services to pressurize the government into acceding to his demands, Dr Kaschev Shrestha told Republica Online.

Though TUTH residential doctors used to avoid partaking in the OPD services 5-6 days after the beginning of Dr. KC’s hunger strike in the past, they decided to do so this time 10 days after Dr KC began his fast-unto-death as per his request.
“The life of Dr KC is at risk. After the concerned stakeholder did not pay attention to the demand set forth by our teacher despite his fast-unto-death, we have been obliged to resort to agitation”, said Dr Shrestha.
