Two arrested on charge of gang-raping teenage girl in bus in Bhaktapur

BHAKTAPUR, Oct 4: Bhaktapur Police on Sunday apprehended two young men on the charge of gangraping a 17-year-old girl in Bhaktapur.

BHAKTAPUR, Oct 4: Bhaktapur Police on Sunday apprehended two young men on the charge of gangraping a 17-year-old girl in Bhaktapur.


The arrestees include Nir Kumar Khadka, 22, of Chautara Sangachowk Gadhi Municipality-10 and Surya Shrestha, 21, of Jugal Rural Municipality-4, Pantang in Sindhupalchowk.

The police have been searching for some other people who were involved in the crime.


According to the police, the accused on October 2 mixed knock-out drugs in water and got the teenage girl to drink that. Then they took her to Bhaktapur from Ratnapark in Kathmandu. The boys gang-raped the girl the following day at around 10AM inside a bus at Suryabinayak of Bhaktapur. The number of that bus is yet to be ascertained.


Then the boys took her to the banks of the Tabya Khushi River at Changunarayan Municipality-8, Liwali, on the same day and raped her in another bus (Ba 3 Kha 2612) which was parked alongside the river between 11 AM and 9 PM.


A team of police deployed from the Metropolitan Police Circle, Jagati, arrested the accused who were then presented before the Bhaktapur District Court on Sunday. The court has extended the judicial custody of the accused by seven days.


“We have launched an investigation into the case,” shared an official of Jagati police post, adding that search for the other accused is underway.
