Two person held from capital for black-marketing face masks

KATHMANDU, March 16: Metropolitan Police on Monday apprehended two men from the capital for their alleged involvement in black marketing of face masks amid coronavirus (COVID19) outbreak fear.

KATHMANDU, March 16: Metropolitan Police on Monday apprehended two men from the capital for their alleged involvement in black marketing of face masks amid coronavirus (COVID19) outbreak fear.


A joint team of Metropolitan Police Range, Teku and Metropolitan Police Circle, Thankot arrested Suraj Goyal, 34, of Kathmandu-23 and Subash Maheshwari, 37, an Indian national.

According to police, Goyal and Maheshwari were arrested with a total of 177 sacks of face masks stored inside a house at Chandragiri municipality-10, Bishnudevi. The masks were found being stored in the name of RDG International Company to be sold at higher prices. The stored amount equals to 849,600 pieces of face masks.


An investigation has been launched against the duo under black marketing and crime against social welfare, police informed.
