KATHMANDU, Dec 24: Two days after the ruling Nepal Communist Party suffered a split, Chinese Ambassador to Nepal, Hou Yanqi held a meeting with Pushpa Kamal Dahal, the chairperson of the rival faction of the party, on Thursday morning.
The Chinese envoy reached Dahal's residence in Khumaltar at 9 am. The meeting — which lasted for about 30 minutes — dwelt on the contemporary political situation after the NCP split, according to sources close to Dahal.

“Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China Hou Yanqi met Chairman of the Nepal Communist Party Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ this morning. They discussed the issues of bilateral concerns,” Bishnu Rijal, a leader close to the Dahal-faction tweeted.
Earlier on Tuesday, the Chinese ambassador held a meeting with President Bidya Devi Bhandari at the latter's office in Sheetal Niwas. The Chinese envoy is said to have discussed the latest political development created after the president dissolved the House of Representatives and announced midterm elections for April 30 and May 10 next year upon the recommendation of the Cabinet.
