Two die as landslide bury seven houses in Darchula

BAITADI, July 20: At least two persons were killed when landslides triggered by an incessant rainfall buried seven houses in Naugad Rural Municipality-6, Parigaun in Darchula district on Sunday night.

BAITADI, July 20: At least two persons were killed when landslides triggered by an incessant rainfall buried seven houses in Naugad Rural Municipality-6, Parigaun in Darchula district on Sunday night.


The deceased have been identified as Manmati Thagunna, 42 and Parvati Thagunna, 5, according to the District Police Office, Baitadi.

Their dead bodies were excavated from the landslide debris on Monday afternoon jointly by local people and police personnel.


Four others including Man Singh Thagunna sustained injuries after being buried in the landslide.


Landslide also swept away local Samaiji Basic School, Surendra Prasad Joshi, information officer for the Baitadi District Police Office told Republica.  


Following the heavy flood along Dhauli Gad stream in Mahakali Municipality-5, the Mahakali Highway has been disrupted.
